Brits should get a day off to vote in general elections, anti-Brexit campaigner Gina Miller has said.
And the True and Fair Party leader called for ousted Ministers to be denied severance pay.
The Party is setting out its key policies in a pre-election manifesto. Suggestions include an extra bank holiday to take place on general election day to boost voter turnout.
The document, seen by the Sunday Mirror, reads: “The UK’s Insistence on holding elections on a working Thursday might be convention, but it also means people struggling to get home from work, school or university might be unable or too exhausted to vote.
“We need a clear day to encourage greater participation.”
The Party also called for ministers who are sacked from the government for incompetence to barred from receiving severance pay.
Currently all ministers are entitled to claim up to 25% of their annual salary when they leave government - even if they are sacked.
The document also calls for new MPs to be “sent to school” after they’re elected.
It would mean introducing a special induction programme for new MPs and staff, run by constitutional lawyers and House of Commons clerks.
