Leicester City reportedly missed out on signing Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson this summer.
The Foxes have made only one signing this summer, bringing in third choice goalkeeper Alex Smithies on a free transfer. Johnson, meanwhile has drawn plenty of interest from Premier League clubs because of his fine form for the Reds.
Johnson had a fine loan spell at Lincoln City during the 2020/21 campaign and his performances helped Forest to Premier League promotion last season. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers identified the 21 year-old as a transfer target this summer alongside Ademola Lookman, who was on loan at the King Power Stadium last season, but a move could not be made because of the club's lack of finance, according to The Telegraph.

The Foxes need to sell players in order to free funds to bolster their squad. With Chelsea interested in Wesley Fofana, it appears that City may have no other option than to do so.
Johnson has so far made 64 outings for the Reds, scoring 20 times and assisting nine. He also signed a new four-year contract with the club back in July. Forest's promotion has seen owner Evangelos Marinakis back Steve Cooper with 16 new signings, while more could be on the way.
Johnson is expected to remain at the Reds having helped his boyhood side to promotion.
If Johnson was up for sale, how much would he be worth? Let us know in the comment section...
