The Dockers can go all the way in September after they snapped Sydney's 10-game winning streak, Fremantle star Nat Fyfe insists.
The West Australian side pulled off a shock one-point victory at the SCG after Swans forward Logan McDonald sprayed his set shot after the siren.
League leaders Sydney and their red-hot midfield had appeared untouchable before Saturday's match - but the Dockers, who moved up to third after the win, proved otherwise.
Dual Brownlow medallist Fyfe held an in-form Isaac Heeney to 20 touches, while Chad Warner was kept under lock and key by Hayden Young, Caleb Serong and Andy Brayshaw.
Star Swans wingman Errol Gulden was coming off a 41-disposal, one-goal game in last week's 27-point win over Greater Western Sydney.
Against Fremantle, he had 21 touches.
Describing the Dockers' win as "fulfilling", Fyfe said their performance against Sydney proved they can take it to the best come finals.
"We have a five-hour flight to get through and it is much sweeter on the back of a victory like that," Fyfe told AAP.
"We knew that it might take right until the last minute.
"We won't take a week in isolation, but this is more evidence to suggest we have the capability of going all the way this year."
Fremantle were running without talismanic skipper Alex Pearce after the defender fractured his left forearm against Gold Coast, but his absence did not deter Justin Longmuir's men.
While Fyfe paid close attention to Heeney, young defender Josh Draper worked overtime to limit Hayden McLean's damage.
"Drapes in particular did a great job," Longmuir said.
"McLean was hurting us in the air, and especially in that first half.
"Some of (Draper's) contests in that last quarter, when he was pulling out of position to get back, find body, get it over or just get the ball and mark himself - he really stood up when we needed him."
Fremantle continue their charge towards finals when they host Richmond next Saturday.
