Frenkie de Jong will stay at Barcelona this summer and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong is set to remain at Barcelona this summer and snub a move to Old Trafford. That's according to Sport, which claims the Dutchman is prepared to accept a pay cut in order to remain at the Nou Camp.

The midfielder was United' s priority target this summer, but the club made no progress in discussions to sign the player due to his deferred wage contract issue and that led the club to sign Casemiro.

United's Premier League rival Chelsea expressed an interest in De Jong earlier this summer, with Liverpool also said to be keen on the Dutchman. The former Ajax man has made two appearances for the Catalan club so far this season.

Elsewhere, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that United have now joined Chelsea in the race to sign forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Barcelona in January.

The report suggests that United have identified the former Arsenal captain as a potential addition to their ranks and are keen on the Gabonese forward.

Chelsea are said to have been in protracted negotiations with Barcelona over Aubameyang, however, the two clubs have not reached an agreement.

Barcelona are prepared to allow the striker to leave the club in order to help ease their complicated financial situation, but it remains to bee seen whether the 33-year-old will secure a move away from Spain.
