Frenkie de Jong responds to Erik ten Hag comment as Man United consider double transfer

These are your Manchester United evening headlines on Friday, May 27.

De Jong reacts to Man United fan’s 'Erik ten Hag is waiting for you' comment

Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong couldn't hide his amusement after a fan shouted "Erik ten Hag is waiting for you" as he applauded fans after a match on Wednesday.

The Netherlands international was thanking supporters after taking part in Barcelona’s exhibition match against an A-League All-Stars team. The Spanish giants ran out 3-2 winners against the Australian outfit, who were managed by United icon Dwight Yorke.

De Jong, who is one of Ten Hag’s summer targets, came off the bench during the game. United fans will be hoping it could be his last Barcelona outing ahead of a potential Old Trafford reunion with his former Ajax manager.

A video has now emerged showing the midfielder clapping fans at the Accor Stadium after full-time. One fan in attendance was presumably a United supporter, and he catches De Jong's attention before screaming Ten Hag’s name at him.

Manchester United considering two goalkeepers to sign as back-up

Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow and Watford custodian Daniel Bachmann are under consideration by Manchester United as a back-up signing to offset the expected departure of Dean Henderson.

Darlow, 31, has been suggested to United by Newcastle in a potential exchange with Henderson, who is hopeful of joining Eddie Howe's side.

Former Nottingham Forest goalie Darlow is aware of discussions but is currently on a post-season holiday. Darlow played twice against United last season, saving a Bruno Fernandes penalty in Newcastle's 4-1 home defeat.

Bachmann, 27, played 12 times in the Premier League for Watford this term and has started 13 times for Austria since making his debut last year.
