French runner Alice Finot participated in the women's steeplechase race at the Paris Olympic Games, finishing fourth with a time of 8:58.67. While she may not have won a medal, she did win something even more special - a fiancé.
After completing her race, Finot sought out her boyfriend, Spanish triathlete Bruno Martinez. She then attached a 'Love is in Paris' pin to his shirt and proposed to him using an Olympic pin.
Explaining her decision to propose, Finot shared, 'I told myself that if I ran under nine minutes, knowing that nine is my lucky number and that we've been together for nine years, then I would propose. I don't like doing things like everyone else. Since he hadn't done it yet, I thought maybe it was up to me.'
Paris, often referred to as the city of love, provided the perfect backdrop for this heartwarming moment between the athletic couple.
