Nottingham Forest promotion hero Djed Spence has made a mixed start to life in France.
The 22-year-old joined Rennes from Tottenham on loan until the end of the season in January. The deal does not include an option for the Ligue 1 side to buy as Spence is regarded as a player for the future.
Following his stellar campaign at the City Ground during the 2021/22 season, Spence was hopeful he would be getting regular minutes at Spurs. However, that wasn't the case as he was limited to just six appearances under Antonio Conte.

His stint in France got off to a positive start, as he impressed on his debut against Lille. However, things have since taken a sour turn in recent weeks, with Spence coming in for criticism for his defensive work in the 2-0 win over Clermont Foot last weekend.
Stade Rennais Online handed the right-back a rating of just 3/10 - the lowest of any player. The publication wrote: "The negative point of this victory is the defensive fragility of the Englishman, completely dropped to mark the whole game.
"Offensively more visible, his ball ascent bringing the 2-0. Technical and messing errors for the rest."
