French film fest hits Bangkok

Eight films from French-speaking countries are among a line-up of various cultural events for Francophonie Festival 2023 In Bangkok which will kick off tomorrow and run until April 1.

La Francophonie is held all over the world every year in March with activities such as workshops, debates, conferences and exhibitions organised in many countries dedicated to a celebration of the French language and Francophonie values such as peace, solidarity and cultural diversity.

Francophonie month in Thailand is presented by the Embassy of Belgium in collaboration with the embassies and delegations of Canada, France, Luxembourg, Morocco, Poland, Romania, Switzerland and Ukraine.

The eight films will be screened throughout the month all with the same showtime of 7pm. The venue is Alliance Francaise Bangkok, Witthayu Road.

The programme includes Olga, a sports drama directed by Elie Grappe from Ukraine, on March 1; Beside Me, a Romanian drama by Tedy Necula, on March 2; EO, a Polish drama by Jerzy Skolimowski, on March 14; and More Than Ever (Plus Que Jamais), a drama and romance by Emily Atef from Luxembourg, on March 15.

The other four movies will be Une Rivière Métissée, a Canadian drama by Julien Cadieux, on March 16; Tintin Moonwalker, a documentary from Belgium, on March 22; Madly In Life (Une Vie Démente), a Belgian comedy by Raphaël Balboni and Ann Sirot, on March 29; and Touchées, a French drama by Alexandra Lamy, on March 30.

Tickets cost 60 baht per screening. Reservations can be made via afthailande.org.
