Free winter warm clothing is being handed out in Annan tomorrow as part of a council initiative to help people through the economic crisis.
With food and fuel bills rising, the authority is running events across the region this month inviting people to go long and help themselves to coats, jackets, jumpers, hoodies, cardigans, jeans and pyjamas.
The first event in Dumfriesshire will be from 9am to noon tomorrow at the Newstart Recycle depot, Provost Mill, North Queensberry Street, Annan.
A similar scheme will run from 11am to 3pm in the Ryan Centre, Fairhurst Road, Stranraer, tomorrow, and in Castle Douglas Community Centre, Cotton Street, from 11am to 3pm on Sunday.
A council spokesperson said: “We have a huge range of clothes in various sizes for both adults and children.
“In addition, at our Dumfries events to come, we will also be giving away free school uniforms including branded sweatshirts, polo shirts, trousers, skirts and shirts.
“You can also visit Action for Children, Kirkfield, Greystone Avenue in Kelloholm who are one of our permanent school uniform and warm winter clothes banks and are open all year round.”
Anyone in need can also call into the Action for Children building in Greystone Avenue, Kelloholm, which is one of the permanent school uniform and warm winter clothes banks that are open all year round.
