Netflix users are having to deal with rising monthly costs, adding to a barrage of cost-of-living expenses.
Across the UK, the basic and standard plans have increased by £1 a month to £6.99 and £10.99 respectively, while the premium subscription has increased by £2 to £15.99. The streaming platform had already increased their subscriptions back in January 2021, and the rising costs in such a small amount of time might convince many of the 14 million UK subscribers to cancel their accounts.
Netflix has already been struggling with subscriber decline in 2022, with a net loss of 200,000 subscribers globally in April and expecting to lose a further two million over the next three months. But it's not just Netflix raising prices, with rival Disney+ also increasing their prices from £5.99 to £7.99 a month for UK customers, the Mirror reports.

Amazon charges £7.99 a month for Prime Video, but there is a little-known section of Amazon that also offers free films and TV series for those who sign up. The free TV service was launched by Amazon on IMDb, a film website owned by the corporate giant, back in 2019.
But last month it was rebranded into Amazon Freevee, and is currently available on the Amazon website. The service offers free streams of shows such as Sinbad, Bosch: Legacy, and Hell's Kitchen, as well as films and documentaries.
The service is being offered as a cost-free alternative for those who no longer want to pay for a streaming subscription like Netflix. Amazon Prime Video will keep its role as the main subscription service, which costs £7.99 a month or £79 a year - but the service also offers discounts to students and families. There is also a one-month free trial available for Prime.
The Prime service was originally launched to allow customers get extra delivery options, including free next day delivery for many items. But in recent years the service has expanded to include the streaming service, offering movies, shows, and documentaries.
Prime users also get access to some Kindle books and other freebies throughout the Amazon website.
