Free Gaelic classes offered to local businesses ahead of major festival

AN Oban community centre is offering free sample sessions for local businesses to learn Gaelic ahead of a major festival.

Prior to the Royal National Mòd, Furan Gaelic Centre and Mòd an Òbain have partnered up to provide the public with a range of interactive tasters of the language.

The complimentary sessions are suitable for those who are looking to pick up some simple phrases, specifically local business owners and their staff to prepare for the celebrations in mid-October.

The Royal National Mòd 2024 will take place from Friday October 11 to Saturday October 19.

The event sees thousands of Gaelic enthusiasts flock to Oban and Argyll to celebrate the Gaelic language alongside Scottish culture and heritage.

There are over 200 competitions and a varied programme that includes live music, exhibitions, children’s activities, and speeches.

These midday and evening workshops are held within Furan Gaelic Centre, Corran Halls, Oban.

The daytime sessions are being held at 12pm on August 22, August 29 and September 12 and the evening meetings commence at 7pm on September 5, September 19 and October 3.
