Free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. hasn’t ruled out joining Chiefs

The race to land free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. is on in the NFL.

With news that the wideout could soon be ready to return from an ACL injury suffered in the Super Bowl last year, teams are beginning to make some public overtures. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made some comments on a radio station recently that caused quite a stir in Dallas. Their star linebacker, Micah Parsons, took to Twitter to do some recruiting.

In response to a Tweet from Parsons, Beckham Jr. confirmed he has some family ties to the Dallas area and said, “I’m just trying to win, wherever I go.” Arrowhead Pride contributor Mark Gunnels saw that statement as an opportunity to sell Beckham Jr. on Kansas City.

“You would 100% win with Mahomes, Kelce, and Big Red,” Gunnels wrote. “Family atmosphere, loudest crowd, and no turf. Oh yeah, best BBQ by the way too. Just something to think about champ.”

“It ain’t out the question,” Beckham Jr. responded.

Even after the trade for WR Kadarius Toney, recent reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo say that the Chiefs “may have interest” in Beckham Jr. Those same reports also stated that Beckham Jr. is expected to be  “at full health and signed” by December.

Could he still be on the radar for Kansas City? Andy Reid also commented on some rumors surrounding Beckham Jr. back in mid-October, stating that he’s “a heck of a football player.” We at least know for certain that Beckham Jr. hasn’t ruled out the Chiefs should they be interested.

The team currently has $3.3 million in available salary-cap space according to the NFLPA’s public salary cap report, so affording him shouldn’t be an issue. Right now, it feels like it’s just a matter of coming out on top in the bidding war and selling Beckham Jr. on the winning culture built in Kansas City.
