As he heads into the eighth year of his football career, offensive tackle Trent Brown is setting high expectations.
Brown was traded to New England on March 17, 2021. In his second stint with the Patriots, he was bogged down by injuries. He suffered a calf injury in Week 1, causing him to miss three games. He was placed on injured reserve on October 9. Activated on November 13, he played the rest of the season.
He is one of several unrestricted free agents for the Patriots this offseason. In an interview with the Schultz Report over the weekend, he opened up about what he is looking for heading into the 2022 season, as transcribed by Zach Cox of NESN.com.
“For me, at this point in my career, I’m going into Year 8,” Brown said. “I would like to find a place that I could call home for the next eight years and just leave a legacy — a winning legacy — and kind of just plant roots somewhere. My kids are getting older, so all the moving around and stuff, I want them to have some familiarity with places and people. I know it’s always a lot of moving parts in this business, but I want to get somewhere I can win and build a legacy — a lasting legacy.”
Brown went on to say that money is a factor for him in addition to stability. With Brown set to test the market, he has made his priorities very clear. With New England set to make decisions in free agency, Brown will undoubtedly be one of them.
