Free agent DL Kingsley Keke visiting the Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have yet to make any significant additions along the defensive line, an area of weakness for them late last season. They may find some help by way of former Packers and Texans defensive lineman Kingsley Keke, who is visiting the team, according to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson.

A fifth-round selection of the Packers in 2019, Keke was released by the team in January. He was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans but was released last week. Last season, he had 2.5 sacks and 20 tackles. He has 47 tackles and 6.5 sacks so far in his three-year career.

Keke was a standout player Texas A&M during his three years, totalling 150 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. Seven of those sacks came during his senior season, leading the team.

His 2020 season was his best statistically, as he had two standout performances against the Eagles and Saints, where he brought down both Drew Brees and Carson Wentz twice.

The Cardinals could certainly use help along the defensive line. They have Leki Fotu and Rashard Lawrence but rush defense was not an area of strength last season. There is added stress on the front-seven following the departure of Chandler Jones to the Raiders, and the team’s lack of adding to what they lost via free agency.

We’ll see in the coming days if Kingsley Keke ends up a member of the Cardinals.
