Colorado Rockies shortstop José Iglesias hit a run-scoring single in his first at-bat of the season on Friday and when he stood on the first base bag tears started to flow.
Why?
Because Iglesias’ dad recently passed away and he had seen just about every hit in his son’s MLB career.
Dodgers new first baseman Freddie Freeman asked Iglesias if he was OK and when he found out why Iglesias was so emotional, Freeman offered him a quick little hug in what just a great interaction between two human beings.

Freeman said this on Saturday:
“I just tried to be there for him, console him and just know that it’s more than a game,” Freeman said Saturday as he sat in the clubhouse. “You never know what any of us are going through in life. If he didn’t tell me, I would never have known that he had lost his father a couple of weeks ago. So I think it just kind of reminds you to just have some compassion and some humility and just be kind to others.
“Because, in that moment, all I wanted to do was hug that guy.”
Freddie Freeman is a good man.
