Freddie Flintoff 'lucky to be alive' after Top Gear crash

Freddie Flintoff's son Corey has said his dad is "lucky to be alive" after being involved in a crash on the Top Gear test track.

The BBC has confirmed the 45-year-old England cricketer was shooting an episode of the hit TV show at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome before the incident on Tuesday. Freddie was taken to hospital after the crash, and his condition is not yet known.

His co-star Chris Harris - who presents the show alongside the former cricketer and Paddy McGuiness - was also at the Top Gear test track.

Corey Flintoff told Mail Online : "He's okay. I'm not too sure what happened but he is lucky to be alive. It was a pretty nasty crash, it is shocking. We are all shocked but just hope he's going to be okay".

The Government's health board, HSE, is now looking into the incident. A HSE spokesperson said: “HSE is aware of this incident and is making inquiries.”

The HSE said it did not know how long inquiries would take. A relative of Freddie Flintoff told MailOnline on Wednesday that the star had suffered a cut face and a broken rib in the high-speed crash.
