Fred Sirieix to appear on BBC travel show after Gino D'Acampo's exit from ITV's Road Trip

Fred Sirieix has signed up to a new BBC travel show after his friend Gino D'Acampo quit ITV's Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.

The French maître d'hôtel is among the celebrities exploring the coast of Northern Ireland in a new travel show that's set to air on BBC Two later this year.

B&B by the Sea - which has already been filmed and is set against the backdrop of the Causeway Coast - follows 15 celebrities who are "whisked away [...] to a tranquil B&B".

Viewers will see them explore the local area, discover its history and assist the B&B team. It's also teased that they will "enjoy a restorative break for the body, mind and soul."

The celebrity guests are welcomed by the likes of host Sharon McIlveen and tour guide Rory O'Kane, and will take part in local activities and seek out homegrown produce.

The BBC further states that the celebrities will "reflect on their wellbeing, challenging times in their lives and offer a peak behind the scenes of their successful careers."

Among those who feature in the BBC show are Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley, former EastEnders star Adam, former Olympic sprinter Linford Christie, actor Larry Lamb and the Hairy Bikers' Si King.

Other guests include singer Cerys Matthews, former rugby union player Ugo Monye, actor Nina Wadia, performer Debbie McGee and former footballer Neil Ruddock.

The show - which is understood to have aired on BBC One Northern Ireland in November last year - also features actor Richard Blackwood, former Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds and presenter Gloria Hunniford.

The announcement that it will air on BBC Two in the coming weeks follows recent news about celebrity guest Fred's established ITV travel show Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.

His co-star Gino D'Acampo announced earlier this month that he had decided to quit the show, which was first broadcast in 2018.

Gino has suggested that his departure is due to issues over filming dates and contracts. He also suggested he wanted to prioritise his friendships with his co-stars.

Announcing the news recently, he told fans in a video on social media that Fred and Gordon had "nothing to do" with his departure, adding: "The friendship is very strong".

News of its broadcast on BBC Two comes amid recent news surrounding Fred's ITV travel show with Gordon Ramsay (left) and Gino D'Acampo (centre) (ITV)

Gino said they "can't get the dates together" and sometimes changes to the dates present issues in his personal life. He added that contracts can become "very complicated" and he would rather maintain his friendships than "getting arguments with the contracts."

"So I've decided not to do [the show] anymore because I want to be friends with the boys for many, many years ahead. [...] Thank you for watching the show," he said.

A new series of the show - which has already been filmed - is set to air later this year. An ITV spokesperson said recently: "A brand new series of Gordon, Gino & Fred's Road Trip in Spain will be broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX later this year".

B&B by the Sea is set to be broadcast on BBC Two in "early spring". All episodes are available on BBC iPlayer.
