Fred Sirieix gives verdict on a Gordon, Gino & Fred's Road Trip return

Fred Sirieix fears the chances of Gordon, Gino & Fred's Road Trip ever returning are looking very slim.

The First Dates maitre d’ told the Mirror things have "moved on" with the much-loved trio unable to make another series work despite the show's huge success.

Gino D'Acampo, 46, said he was leaving the popular ITV series earlier this year citing scheduling conflicts, while insisting that his friendship with Gordon and Fred is "still strong”.

Fred says timing has proved to be a major problem with filming the travel series which saw the pals journey around the world together taken off TV.

There was speculation that the stars' relationship became stained as they parted ways, but Fred insists the departure was down to calendars not conflict, he said.

Asked about a possible return one day, Fred said: "Well, you never know - if we can get the dates together perhaps but we don't seem to be able to get the dates together.

"So there we go, C'est La Vie, as they say.

"It was good while it lasted, but it's finished and we move on. There were so wonderful memories, it was a lot of fun."

Gino opened up about a rumoured 'feud' between the stars of the show, Gordon told us: "I love the boys, Gordon is a cool guy, Fred we've known each other for a long time.

"What happened was we tried to put the dates down to do the show and then all of a sudden they get cancelled.

"This is the second time it's happened in a year. So I said 'we can't do that because everybody has a block of dates, we need to work, we need to support our family."

But Fred is keeping busy and has another exciting travel show also starring Dermot O'Leary and Michael Caine coming our way.

"It's a great series, we're off to Spain, Majorca, Italy and Devon," he said.

"It will be on TV this summer, I believe."

Fred has also spent the past few months working on a travel campaign, announcing a partnership with travel health advice platform Bewareofthebugs.com.

"A lot of us, if not all of us, book their travel after being inspired by what they watch," he explained.

"The one thing we don't think about is the vaccination - if you don't get it, and you get stung by the wrong mosquitoes, it could be very bad news.

"The mosquitoes that were once far away are coming a lot closer thanks to the change in climate. We now have to check just to make sure, we need to project ourselves by checking."
