Fred has pinpointed the changes made by Ralf Rangnick to spark an upturn in his Manchester United form. Having picked up a hip injury, the Brazilian faces a race against time to be fit enough to face Liverpool after sitting out the Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired victory over rock-bottom Norwich.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored a breath-taking treble to settle the scores as United started Paul Pogba in central midfield with Fred on the sidelines. Along with Scott McTominay (foot), his absence has provided cause for concern in the engine room. Title-chasing Liverpool are next up on Tuesday night (8pm).
Indeed, while Fred has often come under the microscope during his time at United, the 29-year-old has been a star performer under Rangnick. Not only that, he credits the interim manager with conducting the necessary alterations which have allowed him to thrive in his favoured, advanced position.

Rangnick stepped into the dugout in December a month after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked. Since then, only Ronaldo (10) and Bruno Fernandes (7) have been directly involved in more United goals than Fred (6).
During a lengthy interview with MUFC media, Fred said: "The manager is always talking to me, telling me to work between the lines to find space behind the opposition's midfield. That's where I play for the Brazilian team, as well, sometimes a bit further back.
"I like playing there to contribute with goals and assists. It's my preferred position, closer to goal, carrying the ball, playing passes into my teammates to score."
Fred added: "I think I've adapted well in the position in the team. The manager is always encouraging me to put in big performances and play important passes to help the team. Confidence is everything. I hope to keep it up."
