Fred Done’s Salboy submits plans for 18-storey residential scheme in Salford

Billionaire bookmaker Fred Done’s property firm has submitted plans to build 115 apartments in Salford.

Salboy’s proposals reveal plans to demolish existing buildings and build an 18-storey residential development on Queen Street in Greengate, an area which is currently undergoing regeneration.

The development will occupy a 0.22-acre site south of the junction of Blackfriars Road and Trinity Way.

The developer said the scheme will “help continue the development of this neighbourhood into a vibrant, mixed-use area”, which would “increase activity, surveillance and animation”.

The developer said the proposal aims to provide an interesting offer at ground floor, with the view to become “a destination, not only for residents but for people further afield”.

Salboys commissioned Jon Matthews Architects in 2019 to design the scheme with a “key driver” to provide a “point of difference against the common residential stock” and “support the emerging Greengate Regeneration Strategy”.

The project also sits adjacent to the approved Copper Works scheme, which the firm said was a “key consideration”.

Salboy is currently involved in a number of projects across Greater Manchester, including Local Crescent, Castle Irwell and Local Blackfriars in Salford and Tib Street in Manchester city centre.
