Nottingham Forest have been handed another injury worry ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Wolves, with Andre Ayew returning to the club with an injury.
The forward has been with the Ghana national team, but didn’t feature in the squad in Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier win over Angola. The Black stars came out as 1-0 winners thanks to Antoine Semenyo’s 96th minute winner.
Ghana are back in action against the same opponents this afternoon (Monday, 5pm kick off), but they will again be without Ayew. The Ghana football association have confirmed that the 33-year-old has returned to Forest after sustaining a knee injury in unlikely fashion.

“Ghana captain Andre Ayew has been ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola after sustaining a knee injury on Thursday,” a statement read. “Ayew slipped on his way to the dressing room and hurt his knee as findings of the MRI scan have meant that he has to return to his club for further treatment.”
How serious the injury is is still to be seen, with Forest facing a crucial game against Wolves at the weekend. Just one point separates the two teams in the Premier League table as nine clubs battle it out to stay in the league at the end of the season.
Ayew joined Forest as a free agent at the start of February and has made seven appearances since arriving at the club with most of them coming from the bench. He did however start the last outing against Newcastle, where the Reds fell to a heartbreaking 2-1 loss thanks to a late penalty from Alexander Isak.
Should Ayew be ruled out of the game, it adds another name to what is a big injury list for Steve Cooper. There are doubts over Chris Wood and Brennan Johnson who have both also been ruled out of international duty.
Striker Taiwo Awoniyi has given the club a boost though by returning to training. The 25-year-old has missed the last nine Premier League games with a groin injury.
