Fraternity Brothers Who Defended American Flag To Attend RNC

Taiwanese flags are seen at the Ministry of National Defence of Taiwan in Taipei

A group of fraternity brothers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, members of the Phi Delta Theta chapter, are set to attend Day 3 proceedings at the 2024 Republican National Convention. These young men gained national attention back in May for their patriotic act of defending the American flag during a protest on campus.

During the protest, anti-Israel agitators attempted to remove the American flag from a campus flagpole and replace it with the Palestinian flag. In a remarkable display of patriotism, the fraternity brothers stood in the rain for nearly an hour, holding the U.S. flag above their heads to prevent it from touching the ground while facing objects thrown at them by the protesters.

Their actions garnered widespread praise and support, leading to a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $500,000 to throw a celebratory party in their honor. Texas Rep. Pat Fallon commended the young men in a letter, and Seth Weathers, CEO of Ultra Right Beer Company, organized a party called 'Flagstock 2024' to honor their bravery.

The 'Frat Boy Summer Kickoff' party, initially planned, was postponed due to the overwhelming attention the fraternity brothers received. The new date for 'Flagstock 2024' is set for Labor Day, with country musician John Rich offering to perform a free show in tribute to the students.

The Phi Delta Theta brothers' unwavering defense of the American flag has not only inspired many but also earned them a special invitation to the Republican National Convention, where they will be recognized for their remarkable act of patriotism.
