Frasier star Kelsey Grammer explains reason he's bought a house in Portishead

Legendary 'Frasier' star Kelsey Grammer has revealed he's bought a house - in the coastal town of Portishead. The 67-year-old American actor was speaking to BBC Radio Bristol when he revealed that he and his wife Kayte have purchased a 'little place' there.

The actor was discussing his career and connection with the Somerset town - home of the 90s band of the same name - on Wednesday morning with presenter James Hanson. Kelsey and his wife Kayte, the daughter of former Bristol City football club player and Bristol Rovers coach Alan Walsh, married in 2011.

He said: "I love the people in Portishead, and I love my time there. It's a good spot - we've actually bought a house there.

"We bought a little place we're going to be working on. We won't be taking up residence for a while, but yeah we're pretty excited about it. We have a little view of Wales from the channel there, it's really nice."

The actor has been spotted in Portishead several times over the last decade, often visiting Kayte's family. Recounting one visit, he said that he had been photographed embarassingly yawning at a Bristol Rovers game during their 2013-14 relegation season.

Often spotted in Bristol restaurants, the actor said his wife Kayte is a "big aficionado of indian curries." He added: "I frankly just go for the poppadom and the little relish tray that comes out in the beginning.

"We go into Bristol a bit, we've been to San Carlo, the restaurant there. We're actually in the business at this point of making a shopping show, for we think maybe Channel 4, that's going to check out the gastronomy of the provinces of England rather than just London. So we're working on that right now."

The actor admitted he finds it difficult to travel across the UK, or even abroad, without being recognised by somebody. He recounted one experience during an African safari where a group of Maasai warriors looked at him and said 'oh Fraiser'.

He also confirmed recent rumours of a planned reunion show, saying that rehersals for the new episodes were expected to start 'in a few weeks'. He added: "That is true, we have the magnificent Nicholas Lyndhurst joining the cast.

"I just adore him, he's one of the funniest people I've ever worked with. He's a very very gifted man.

"There is a new Frasier, we're going to start rehersals in the next few weeks. He's playing an old friend, that's the best version I can tell you right now.

"The only rumours I've heard [about the show's release] is maybe the first week of July - but that's up to people who programme honestly. I'd like to see it start a little earlier honestly, because there's such excitement about it, but they know what they're doing."
