Fraser Forster's Celtic Champions League experience 'perfect' for Tottenham major confidence vote

Fraser Forster's experience in the Champions League will make him a very suitable replacement for Tottenham's injured number one Hugo Lloris according to a coach.

The towering goalkeeper has been in the shadows at Spurs since arriving in the summer from Southampton on a deal until 2024 but the news that French stopper Lloris will be forced out for a number of weeks means the Englishman is in to the starting eleven. Forster, who spent two fruitful loans at Celtic, has been backed by Antonio Conte and assistant Cristian Stellini as Spurs face off with Leicester City.

The 34-year-old has only made one appearance at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium but starts against former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers with Stellini claiming the stopper will not be short of confidence after playing at the highest level and that he is first and foremost a top character.

He said: "I like Fraser like a man because he is a very good man. His behaviour in this season was perfect. Every day he pushes himself to train really hard and with this behaviour he pushes Hugo to train very hard.

“He is a great man before a great goalkeeper because we don’t have to forgot we are men before we are players. I like Fraser. The difference between Hugo is we start to think physically. He (Fraser) is a keeper perfect for the Premier League style, for the type of game we are going to play in the Premier League and he uses both feet when he plays with the ball."

He added: "He has a good experience in Champions League. It's a tough five weeks but we completely trust in him. But we say to Hugo we will see you soon. He needs around five to seven weeks to be back with us."
