Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster is set for a dramatic return to the England team after a five year absence.
Having spent three spells at Celtic, back in 2020 the towering stopper looked set to make a permanent exit from St Mary's for Celtic Park.
However, Neil Lennon was turned down and was left scrambling to find a new number one ahead of their 10th consecutive title bid.
Forster wanted to fight for his place in the Southampton team, stating at the time: "It’s been a strange few years, it’s been a tough few years
"Obviously it’s a club I love a lot. I had some fantastic times here in the past and I’ve always been keen to come back and try and play here.
"That’s all I wanted to do in the summer. I wanted to come back and give it a go and everyone’s been fantastic with me since I’ve been back."
Forster has spent most of his time since then warming the bench at the English Premier League, but has enjoyed a recent breakthrough.
Number one Alex McCarthy is on the sidelines with injury, opening the door for the 34-year-old to make his claim for the spot.
He's repaid boss Ralph Hasenhuttl with a string of impressive performances, and has now completed the target he set for himself when returning from Celtic.
Forster is now set to go one step further, with Gareth Southgate preparing to hand him a late call-up to the squad.
He won the last of his six England caps in 2016 and hasn't been in a squad since 2017, but an injury to Sam Johnstone has opened the door for a late call to face Switzerland and Ivory Coast.
