Frantic search launched for missing OAP with dementia last seen near Scots petrol station

A missing OAP who suffers from dementia and was last seen near a Scots petrol station in the middle of the night has been traced.

William Rodgers, 86, was last spotted on Glasgow Street in Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, at around 2.40am on Thursday, October 27.

The pensioner's family were very concerned for his welfare and police appealed for information.

Officers asked locals to check any private CCTV and outhouses for any signs of William.

However, later on Thursday morning cops confirmed the pensioner had thankfully been traced.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that William Rodgers, 86, who was reported missing from Ardrossan, has been traced.

"Thank you to everyone who shared our earlier appeal."
