Frankie Bridge praises Florence Pugh's 'normal' body during plus size debate

Frankie Bridge has praised Hollywood actress Florence Pugh for having a 'normal body'.

The Loose Women presenter recalled recently seeing British-born Florence star in Don't Worry Darling alongside Harry Styles and being impressed by her performance and 'normal' figure compared to other leading ladies.

The Saturdays singer, 33, was speaking with her Loose Women co-stars Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore about Disney's recent unveiling of their first plus-size heroine when she made her comments about Florence.

Upcoming movie Reflect sees a young plus-size ballet dancer named Bianca take centre stage, as she 'battles her own reflection, overcoming doubt and fear by channeling her inner strength, grace and power'.

On this week's final offering from the Loose Women ladies, the four panelists discussed their feelings regarding the upcoming feature from Disney.

Frankie praised the company for finally offering some representation for women who don't look like the stereotypical, super-skinny Disney princesses, but had one issue with the storyline.

The mum-of-two argued how the plot of Reflect will focus on body and weight-related topics and would have preferred the plus-size protagonist to have a storyline that didn't revolve around her figure.

Frankie went on to explain how she recently enjoyed a trip to the cinema to see Don't Worry Darling and was delighted to see the leading lady Florence sport a 'normal body' on the big screen.

"She's like the main character in the movie and I'm sure she's tiny or whatever, but me and my three friends all come out and said the same thing," Frankie recalled on the ITV show.

"How lovely is it that the main, lead female role was more of a 'normal' body type."

Florence hit the headlines earlier this year thanks to her starring role in Olivia Wilde's highly-publicised second effort as a director, Don't Worry Darling.

Before the psychological thriller even hit cinemas, the movie was already one of the most-talked-about films of the years thanks to a stream of behind-the-scenes drama and allegations involving all the stars.

Don't Worry Darling was dogged by rumours of a rift between director Olivia and Florence before the movie even premiered - with Florence famously seemingly opting not to promote her big role across her social media accounts and skip multiple promotional interviews.

In her only interview regarding her leading role in the movie, Florence seemingly took aim at the attention her sex scenes with Harry were receiving - with Olivia at the same time praising her film for showing female pleasure on the big screen.

"When it’s reduced to your sex scenes . . . to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone . . . it’s not why we do it. It’s not why I’m in this industry," Florence stated when discussing the famous oral sex scene on a dining table between her character Alice and Jack, played by Harry.

Florence was also said to be unimpressed by her directors decision to strike up a romance with her co-star Harry throughout filming, following mum-of-two Olivia splitting from long-term partner and fiance, Ted Lasso creator Jason Sudeikis

Since the film's release last month, the drama has not died down - with Jason and Olivia's former nanny making a number of sensational claims regarding their split and Olivia's subsequent relationship with former One Direction singer Harry.

Putting on a united front, the former couple dismissed their ex-employees allegations and issued a joint statement saying: "As parents, it is incredibly upsetting to learn that a former nanny of our two young children would choose to make such false and scurrilous accusations about us publicly.

"Her now 18 month long campaign of harassing us, as well as loved ones, close friends and colleagues, has reached its unfortunate apex.

"We will continue to focus on raising and protecting our children with the sincere hope that she will now choose to leave our family alone," the statement concluded.

*Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV and ITVHub
