Frank Warren has ruled out a potential opponent for Tyson Fury’s next fight.
The WBC champion was last in the ring against Derek Chisora in December, earning a TKO victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fury has since been in talks over possible fights with both Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua but failed to finalise an agreement, leaving the lineal heavyweight champion without an opponent for a proposed date in September.
A relatively new name was put to promoter Frank Warren in a recent interview, where it was suggested that undefeated Filip Hrgovic could be a viable option for Fury. However, Warren shut down the idea and called on Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn to name Hrgovic as Joshua’s next opponent.

“It would be easy for him to make Hrgovic against his own man [Joshua], like we do. We put Joe Joyce in with Daniel (Dubois), why don’t they do that?,” Warren said.
“Am I open to it (Fury-Hrgovic)? No, not really, why would I want to do them (Matchroom) any favours? Hrgovic is a great opponent for Joshua, and it shouldn’t be hard to make, they’re in the same stable.”
Hrgovic is currently the number one-ranked contender with the IBF but Usyk is preparing to defend his three belts against mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois in August. Meanwhile, Hearn has stated that an offer has been made for Dillian Whyte to fight Joshua this summer, ahead of his plans to fight Deontay Wilder at the end of the year in Saudi Arabia.
Fury recently shared that talks had been revived with Joshua’s team over a possible fight but these failed to progress as ‘AJ’ was unwilling to change his plans. An undisputed fight between Fury and Usyk has also been touted for the Middle East in December, though no agreement has yet been signed.
