Following his sudden retirement announcement earlier this week, Frank Warren has offered Tyson Fury a totally different job in boxing as part of his Queensberry Promotions team.
Frank Warren Offers Tyson Fury New Job Following Shock Retirement
Following his surprise retirement announcement earlier this week, Tyson Fury seems to be stepping away from the boxing ring for good.
However, Queensberry Promotions kingpin Frank Warren believes ‘The Gypsy King’ has more to give the sport of boxing. Warren doesn’t want Fury to turn his back on the sport altogether, and feels he still has a place in the sport in some capacity, if not fighting anymore.
The Hall of Fame British boxing promoter has revealed in an interview with Sky Sports that he would like to see the former two-time world heavyweight champion work in the sport in some capacity.
“I’d have no problem with him getting involved with us. We’d have a good run together!” the 72-year-old promoter told Sky Sports.
“He’s got a great brain and he’s very astute. I hope it’s not [goodbye] because he’s got a lot to give boxing outside the ring.”
Warren has backed Tyson Fury to become a boxing promoter after announcing his retirement, and insists he would welcome the 36-year-old with open arms at his company Queensberry Promotions.
Will Tyson Fury Stay Retired Or Could Fans See The Anthony Joshua Fight Later This Year?
With his sudden retirement announcement earlier this week, it seems that the British heavyweight super fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua may never actually happen.
Now seemed like the perfect time to make the fight, despite neither man having a world title and both being in the later stages of their respective careers. That being said, Fury vs Joshua was still the biggest fight in British boxing. Period.
Following his back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, boxing fans felt ‘The Gypsy King’ would face ‘AJ’ later in 2025. The fight makes total sense for both men, especially given the fact both have come off losses.
However, following Fury’s sudden retirement, it seems the fight may never happen, much to the disappointment of the boxing public. That being said, several respected boxing figures still feel the fight could happen, and that Fury’s latest retirement is just a plot to get more money.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn believes there is still a chance the fight happens, and that Fury won’t stay retired at all. Whether or not this is the case remains to be seen, but for now Tyson Fury is a retired ex-fighter with no ambitions of lacing up the gloves again.
In turn, Anthony Joshua will have to look elsewhere for his next fight. He could have eyes on the Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker winner, or perhaps the winner of Zhilei Zhang vs Agit Kabayel.
