Frank Warren drops Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk hint with Anthony Joshua decision

A middle-east superfight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk could be announced next week amidst the controversy surrounding the purse split for Fury's fight with Dilian Whyte.

WBC mandatory challenger Whyte is in arbitration over the 80:20 split proposed by Fury's camp and the deadline for the purse split has been pushed back to next Wednesday 26th January.

Meanwhile Usyk is set for a rematch with Anthony Joshua following the Ukrainian's impressive win over the Brit back in September, becoming IBF, WBO and IBO champion in the process.

However, these fights could be set aside for a colossal unification bout as Fury and Usyk could do battle in the middle east to finally unify the division following the collapse of Fury's proposed fight with Joshua last year.

It would see Joshua deciding to step aside and Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren said: “It’s a saga but if we can keep things between us, we can get something over the line one way or another.

“We are still working on things but I believe over the weekend we will make some progress and then have something to announce.

“Everybody in boxing wants to see the undisputed fight between Tyson and Usyk, I want to see it just as a fan. So that is the fight we are trying to make.”
