For the second straight outing, the Carolina Panthers defense won the day down in Spartanburg.
Head coach Frank Reich detailed the standout performance to kick off Sunday’s post-practice presser.
“A little competition, ” he said with a smile. “All day, but the added period was a little red zone period—and defense won. So, that’s two, back-to-back good days by the defense. Today was solid by the O—wasn’t perfect, but better than yesterday. So, love these days. Love these days.”
Reich has apparently also loved what he’s seen out of recent free-agent addition Deion Jones. It seems the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker, who signed with the team a week ago, is already fitting right in.
“He’s been here a short time—we’ve talked about this as a staff—man, he’s adapted really quickly,” Reich said. “It looks like he belongs. You can tell his experience. Yeah, he looks good. Looks like he’s been here the whole camp.”
Jones is entering the eighth campaign of his NFL career. The one-time Pro Bowler was inked on to help provide some depth to the inside linebacker position, one headed by the duo of Shaq Thompson and Frankie Luvu.
And, hey, come to think of it—Jones really shouldn’t have too difficult of a time settling into the NFC South, right?
