Frank Ocean struck by injury before Coachella forcing huge change to 'disappointing' set

Frank Ocean "suffered an injury" just days before his Coachella performance, with his set having to be changed according to medical advice.

The singer returned to the stage for the first time since 2017 on Sunday, but fans were left disappointed by the performance, which was delayed by an hour.

Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the show, one person wrote: "Frank Ocean in his flop era."

Another said: "He showed up an hour late, knowing he’d be kicked off early by the curfew had a DJ perform a set during the show to waste time."

However, a third fan suggested: "Dang. Everyone mad at Frank Ocean lmao. Maybe he's goin thru some s*** idk."

A source close to the situation told The Mirror Frank was actually injured in the run up to his festival performance.

"Frank suffered an injury to his ankle at on-site rehearsals in the week leading up to the festival. Production was adjusted according to doctors' advice."

The insider also said festival organisers were happy with Frank's set.

"Coachella organisers loved the show. The set list had twenty songs including completely reworked versions of his songs.

"The sat ran for fifteen minutes longer than his planned set time," they explained.

During his headline set, Frank hinted to fans that a new album is on the way but he said it wouldn't be ready any time soon.

"I wanna talk about why we're here today. It's not because of a new album.

"Not that there's not a new album but that's not right now," the 35-year-old told the crowd.

Frank also spoke about how his life has "changed so much" in the last couple of years and said he had missed his fans.

The musician paid tribute to his brother Ryan Breaux who died in 2020 at the age of 18 after being involved in a tragic car accident.

Frank said one of his "favourite memories" was being at Coachella with his brother and "dancing in that tent".

"I know he would have been really excited to be here with all of us and I want to say thank you for the support and the ears and the love after all this time," he said during his performance.
