Frank Lampard urging Everton to build on 'nice bounce' in Premier League relegation battle with Leeds United

Everton manager Frank Lampard believes his side’s trip to Leicester City on Sunday will provide a ‘different challenge’ to last weekend’s game against Chelsea. The Toffees ran out 1-0 winners over the European Champions to move within just two points of Leeds United in 17 th .

While Everton have managed to pick up three wins and a draw from their last four home games, their fortunes away from Goodison Park has still remained poor. They have picked up just six points on the road all season, including a run of seven consecutive defeats on their travels.

Against Chelsea, Everton were able to sit deep and hit their opponents on the counter-attack, but in tomorrow’s clash with the Foxes, it is likely to be a different type of game. And speaking in his pre-match press conference, via quotes from the Independent, Lampard challenged his side to finally replicate their good home form into away matches.

He said: “There was a nice bounce and feeling for everybody after beating Chelsea but reality kicks in a day later. The next games are the most important and they are away games, where we haven’t performed as well as we want all season.

“It is a different challenge now against a fantastic team away from home, where we’ve struggled for results, then we face Watford. I have to try to get us in the best possible shape for those games.

“The players have to retain that nature that makes us difficult to play and score against. We have a group of players who are hungry and fighting and that has to stay and get better.”
