Frank Lampard sends £100m Anthony Gordon transfer warning amid Chelsea £60m bid denial

Frank Lampard has sent a fresh warning to Chelsea in their pursuit of Everton star Anthony Gordon, claiming the 21-year-old could become a £100million player.

The Blues legend denied reports that a £60million bid had been submitted by Thomas Tuchel's side for Gordon and reiterated the fact he is an Everton player. Chelsea are currently focusing on securing deals for the talented winger and Leicester starlet Wesley Fofana, deals that could reach a combined fee in the region of £150million.

Lampard compared Gordon to players such as Mason Mount who he coached during his time at Stamford Bridge and with Derby County, claiming the 21-year-old is 'in that bracket'. With under a week to go in the transfer window, Todd Boehly is looking at securing further signings to improve Tuchel's squad after an indifferent start to the 2022/23 campaign.

Speaking ahead of Everton's clash against Brentford this weekend, Lampard was quizzed on Gordon's future with Chelsea still pursuing a deal for the talented youngster. Lampard said: “I have been fortunate enough to work with fantastic young players in my time at Derby and Chelsea seen them develop and become Champions League winners and worth maybe triple figures.

"Anthony is in that bracket. He is ours, an Everton boy and the crowd relate to him."

Lampard continued by rubbishing reports that Chelsea had submitted an improved offer in the region of £60million for the 21-year-old. "No, it hasn’t come in," the Chelsea icon continued.

"He is our player and remains so, he is in the squad for tomorrow. He is a huge player for us, I am not talking about a number [for a transfer].”

Gordon has already indicated to the Everton boss that he is keen on a move to Chelsea and wants the manager to consider the Blues' offer, as per The Mirror. The Toffees are aware that there has been informal contact with the 21 year old’s representatives and Chelsea are ready to offer a significant financial package that is hard to resist for the talented youngster.

Gordon made a total of 40 appearances last term, scoring four goals and providing a further three assists in all competitions. The Merseyside outfit are reluctant to letting their prized asset leave Goodison Park this summer but may be forced into a sale to reinvest money elsewhere in the squad.
