Frank Lampard responds to reports Chelsea have made a £79.6m bid for Kai Havertz

Frank Lampard has poured cold water on reports that Chelsea have made a £79.6million bid for Kai Havertz.

The Blues have already made moves in the summer transfer window, bringing in Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner for a combined £82million.

But their spending spree has shown no signs of easing up, with the likes of Havertz, Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell all linked with big money moves to Stamford Bridge.

Havertz has been the one most heavily linked of late, with some stunning performances for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga catching the eye.

Frank Lampard expects Christian Pulisic to be big player for Chelsea

Reports emerged on Tuesday night that Leverkusen had received two offers for Havertz - one from Real Madrid and one from Chelsea, in the region of £79.6million.

While he is a player the Blues are chasing though, no offer has been made for his services - something that is sure to upset the Chelsea fans awaiting news of another transfer.

Chelsea take on Manchester City in the Premier League on Thursday night and ahead of the game head coach Frank Lampard has been speaking to the media via a Zoom video conference.

And he was asked about the Havertz 'bid'.

He said: "He's obviously a top player, but to carry on from my answer before I'm certainly not going to comment on other players at other teams. And it cannot be our focus. So, nothing to say.

"No. No bids have gone in."

Havertz is set to be one of the big transfer sagas of the sumemr, and even though a bid has not been lodged it does not mean Chelsea will try in the future.
