Frank Lampard responds to question over future as Everton World Cup players confirmed

Frank Lampard said now was the time for him to maintain a level head as he attempts to prevent Everton from being dragged into another relegation battle.

The Blues boss pointed to the fragility of the Premier League table and the loss of Richarlison in the summer as he called for perspective on his club's predicament. Everton are just one place and one point above the relegation zone heading into the World Cup break.

He also highlighted how, just a week before the league defeat to Bournemouth, pundits and fans were focused on how a win against Leicester City would put Everton in the top half, however. And he referred to pre-season predictions that claimed Everton faced a battle for survival as he dealt with questions about the club's league position and recent performances.

Everton and Frank Lampard will be glad to see the back of Premier League football for the next six weeks as club football around the world breaks for the 2022 World Cup.

The Toffees blew their final chance of entering the winter with optimism following Saturday's dismal 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth. Frank Lampard 's side were unable to find any reply to goals from Marcus Tavernier, Kieffer Moore and Jaidon Anthony, failing to score for the third league game in a row.

They will spend the next six weeks and Christmas Day 17th, just a place off the bottom three. Luckily, Lampard will have the majority of his squad on hand to sort things out at Finch Farm, but a select few will be heading to Qatar to represent their nations.
