Frank Lampard provides update on Anthony Gordon future amid failed £60m Chelsea transfer swoop

Frank Lampard has provided an update on Anthony Gordon's future after Everton rejected a bid from Chelsea in the summer. The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Todd Boehly looked to bolster the Blues' strike force.

football.london understand that the Blues were prepared to pay as much as £60million for the winger, who was reportedly determined to leave Goodison Park. It's said that the west Londoners had several bids rejected by the Toffees, with Todd Boehly once eager to do what it took to land Gordon's signature.

The American billionaire is said to have wanted several Chelsea's players included in a potential deal in order to reach Everton's full valuation. It's said that Frank Lampard held an interest in Michy Batshuyai, Armando Broja and Billy Gilmour.

Following a handful of unsuccessful bids, the Blues opted against pursuing Gordon's services. And Lampard has offered another update on the England Under-21 international's future, who will stay at Everton for a 'long time'.

As quoted by Sky Sports, speaking ahead of the Toffees' clash with Newcastle United, Chelsea's all-time top goal scorer said: "I have no concerns about the noise around the contract, and I have spoken to him about it.

"Generally, I'm all for players getting what they deserve in their contracts. That is a separate story. My main concern as a manager is getting Anthony to play at his best. He is our player, he will remain that for a long time, and I think we showed that with our intention in the summer."

Then, when asked whether he thinks Gordon has been distracted by speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea, Lampard replied: "No - I hope not. He's a young player, so I shouldn't just assume that what happened at the back end of the window doesn't affect him, doesn't affect the feeling around him."

Gordon, who sees his deal at Goodison Park expire in 2025, has featured nine times for Everton this season, directly contributing towards two goals. Despite a bright start to the new campaign, the youngster has somewhat struggled.
