Frank Lampard questioned the "grey area" of the rules of VAR as he argued Everton should have been awarded a penalty against Newcastle United.
The Blues boss said it was his view that Anthony Gordon was fouled when he went down under a first half challenge from Dan Burn, who failed to get a touch on the ball. The failure to award a penalty was one of a number of decisions that incensed Everton's players during an opening 45 minutes filled with needle.

Concerns were also raised about a possible foul on Amadou Onana in the build up to Miguel Almiron's sensational match winner, while the penalty claim sparked a mass coming together after Kieran Trippier crossed the pitch to challenge Gordon for going down.
Speaking after the game, Lampard gave his verdict on the incident -which came just days after a soft penalty decision proved vital in helping Tottenham Hotspur to overcome his side.
He said: "My fear with that is everybody's looking at Anthony and rejecting any penalty straightaway, because if it's a foul of a nudge in the back and the touch on the foot then for me that's a penalty but I think VAR is there to re-look. This thing of clear and obvious is a grey area that we don't need. It's a penalty or it's not and I felt it was a foul, personally."
