Furious Everton fans lashed out at the club's players, management and ownership as the Blues were thrashed 4-1 at home by Brighton.
Manager Frank Lampard cut a disconsolate figure as the hosts were hammered by the Seagulls on their own turf, with fans chanting "sack the board" and also turning on the players during the dismal defeat.
Lampard is among the hot favourites to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, with the Blues now down in 16th place in the table and just one point above the relegation zone.
Kaoru Mitoma gave Brighton a 14th minute lead at Goodison Park.
Shortly after heading over the bar when he should have scored, the Japan international exploited a mistake by Nathan Patterson to run onto the ball, cut into the box and coolly find the net for his second goal of the week after he netted in the 4-2 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday.
It then took Brighton only six minutes of the second half to double their lead.
Eighteen-year-old Evan Ferguson, who had impressed on his first Premier League start, was the man to put the ball in the net after Jeremy Sarmiento jinked his way to the byline and provided a perfect cut-back.
And boos rang out round Goodison Park as Solly March was given far too much space on the edge of the box to make it three just three minutes later.
Remarkably, three minutes after the third, a fourth arrived. A reckless pass from Idrissa Gana Gueye was seized on by Pascal Gross just inside the Everton half and he had the freedom of Goodison to run through and chip the ball over Jordan Pickford.
Everton fans began to head for the exits and a flare was thrown onto the pitch while more chants of "sack the board" rang out, long before Demarai Gray scored a consolation goal from the penalty spot.
Before the match the Everton fan group NSNOW had confirmed plans for a sit in protest against the club's board after next month's home match with Arsenal.
A spokesperson read: "We recognise asking supporters to protest when the team need all the support that Blues can offer is sensitive for some. Thus we are wanting a peaceful protest immediately after the lunchtime Arsenal game on February 4.
"We are asking for the widest possible participation. It's important that the owner and the board realise that for many Blues, how the club has been run for years on and off the pitch, is not good enough.
"Despite the hundreds of millions thrown at the club our competitive position declines year after year. Only Farhad Moshiri can arrest this decline by making the necessary changes at board and executive level. Failure to do so will, in our opinion, continue and accelerate the decline of our great club."
