Frank Lampard explains Andre Gomes absence and gives triple Everton injury update

Frank Lampard is hoping Andre Gomes will return to Everton training in the coming days after picking up a thigh injury.

The midfielder was left out of the squad for the 2-0 victory over Boreham Wood at Goodison Park on Thursday evening, which saw the Blues advance into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Everton will take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park later this month in the next round of the competition.

However, Gomes was not involved at all for the Blues and Lampard confirmed the circumstances ruling him out.

Lampard said: "He's picked up a thigh injury, which he's been carrying a bit.

"Hopefully he'll be training over the next couple of days."

The Everton manager also gave a triple update on Vitalii Mykolenko, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ben Godfrey.

Mykolenko was substituted in the second half of the win over Boreham Wood, and Lampard revealed that was due to picking up a dead leg.

Lampard added: "It's a dead leg [for Mykolenko], so not too bad.

"Dominic, we're hoping will be training over the weekend, but we'll have to wait and see.

"Ben Godfrey is getting closer, hopefully he'll be with us in the early part of next week."
