Harry Redknapp has backed Frank Lampard to get the best out of Donny van de Beek as the Manchester United midfielder heads to Everton.
Van de Beek is on Deadline Day expected to complete his move to Goodison Park, which will be a loan for the remainder of the season.
The Dutchman's arrival will come just hours after Lampard was officially announced as Everton's new manager. The former England international wasting no time strengthening his squad.
As well as Van de Beek, Dele Alli looks set to join from Tottenham on a permanent move.
Van de Beek will be walking into a club battling to move away from the Premier League’s bottom three and avoid a fight for survival this season.
There’s no doubt, though, that the Netherlands international is in need of some regular playing time, having been starved of minutes throughout his time at Old Trafford.
And former Spurs and Portsmouth boss Redknapp believe his nephew is the right man to help Van de Beek rediscover his best form.
“Frank knows he needs some results. They are sucked into it for sure. He’s getting the boy [Van de Beek] from Man United hopefully today, whose career needs resurrecting,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.
“His confidence is low, but there’s a footballer is there. We saw him at Ajax, the boy can really play.
“It’s up to Frank now to get the best out of him.”
Everton look to have beaten Crystal Palace to Van de Beek's signature, despite firm interest from the London club.
The 24-year-old has been unable to convince Ralf Rangnick he is worthy of a regular slot in his United side, having started just one game since the German’s arrival, and is in desperate need of a revival in his career.
