Everton head coach Frank Lampard has admitted that the Toffees’ trip to Elland Road on Tuesday evening will be ‘tough’ with Leeds United looking to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat at Brighton.
The Whites were subject to their first loss of the season, losing 1-0 at the AMEX Stadium with a second-half strike from Pascal Gross proving the difference between the two sides in what was a below-par match from Jesse Marsch’s side.
However, Leeds have a good opportunity to return to winning ways and extend their 100% start at home to four matches against an Everton side yet to win in the Premier League.

Speaking to Everton TV about the upcoming match after his side’s 1-1 draw at Brentford on Saturday afternoon, Lampard said: “[We] understand that it’s going to be a tough night, a big atmosphere at Leeds. Every game is tough in this Premier League, we know that so you can definitely see big signs that we’re getting better.
“I think it was always going to be the case with the injuries we have, the attacking options that we have. We’re bringing players in. A little bit of settling time is normal for us but I saw lots of good things today. We just have to carry that on to Leeds.
“It’ll be tough. A lot of them [Everton’s players] will be used to that [hostile atmosphere], they’ve played in those things before. [A] calm head [is needed].
“Match Leeds for energy, for aggression, for all the basics of the game is always the starting point and be confident in ourselves. We are improving and sometimes you have to fight for results in this Premier League and keep going and there were times that we missed draws in games like this, we didn’t get draws and we were losing games.
“It’s a nice step forward for us to get a point today but we have to go to Leeds to try and win the game.”
