Frank Klich chat, Bamford's Leeds United return, World Cup camp and Marsch's agenda

Jesse Marsch faces the media on Friday afternoon for his pre-match press conference. The Leeds United head coach will take questions from television, radio, print and online journalists at Thorp Arch ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur visit on Saturday.

Here is a run-down of some of the main topics on the agenda for the American to address at the training ground today.

Picking up the World Cup pieces

Like international bosses this week, Jesse Marsch will have to deal with good news and bad news in his own camp this week. For every Brenden Aaronson or Tyler Adams there is a Robin Koch or Mateusz Klich.

At the time of writing, Koch and Klich had received bad news, the Americans and Rasmus Kristensen had the nod, while Pascal Struijk, Diego Llorente and, at an outside bet, Rodrigo were yet to discover their fate. Marsch is sure to be asked about their reactions and how he manages them through overwhelming positivity or despondency.

In Klich’s case particularly there is a narrative to be tugged on. The Pole was on the verge of making an exit in the summer transfer window, but after talks with Marsch about his role from the bench he decided to stick it out with faith his bit-part role would be enough to see him to Qatar.

Injury latest

Aside from the stock comments about Adam Forshaw, Stuart Dallas and Luis Sinisterra, Marsch will be expected to lay out the latest on strikers Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt. The former felt something in the last penalty kick in training before Bournemouth, while Gelhardt came off after receiving treatment on Wednesday night at Molineux.

Gnonto or Harrison?

Jack Harrison was hooked at the break last weekend, then played 90 minutes on Wednesday without impressing at Wolverhampton Wanderers. In the meantime, Wilfried Gnonto has played a big part in each of the last two wins when playing off the left flank.

Marsch is bound to be pushed on whether the Italy international finally gets the full debut many of his peers got in midweek.

World Cup plan

Marsch was asked not to say anything last week, but the topic of the World Cup break is sure to come up again today. With the last match before the pause upon us, fans will be getting fidgety on where and when they can see Leeds during the break.

Tottenham, Conte and Kane

As always, there will be questions on Saturday’s opposition and this time it’s a team Marsch is yet to come up against in the Leeds dugout, Antonio Conte is a modern great in their field, while this week’s comments about Harry Kane’s fatigue may crop up for Marsch to address.
