Baltimore Police have stated that there is no evidence to suggest that the ship collision which led to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was intentional. Chief Richard Worley emphasized during a news conference that there is no indication of terrorism or deliberate action involved in the incident.
The FBI has announced its involvement in the investigation to determine the cause of the collision, indicating the seriousness of the situation. Rescue crews have confirmed the presence of vehicles submerged in the Patapsco River following the bridge collapse. Fire Chief James Wallace mentioned that sonar technology has detected the vehicles in the water, although an exact count is yet to be determined.
Wallace further explained that investigators are waiting for the ship to be deemed secure and stable before boarding it to gather more information. The collapse of the Key Bridge has shocked many, with Mayor Brandon M. Scott describing the scene as reminiscent of an action movie.
