France have won the 2025 Six Nations title after a 35-16 victory over Scotland in the final match on an exciting Super Saturday. Les Bleus were made to work and at half-time they would have feared the party in Paris could have been spoiled, as they held a narrow 16-13 lead only after a TMO review had chalked off a Tom Jordan try right before the break.
But France pulled away in the second period, with Louis Bielle-Biarrey going over for his eighth try of the tournament, before Thomas Ramos further eased the nerves and Yoram Moefana then added to his first-half score. Scotland were hugely impressive and pounded away at the French defence right up until the final whistle, but they had little to show for their second-half efforts as Les Blues held firm, ensuring there was to be no late drama.
It is France’s first Six Nations crown since their 2022 Grand Slam and only a second since 2010, ending a frustrating run of back-to-back second-place finishes behind Ireland, whom they brushed aside in Dublin in round four to enter the final day in pole position despite the loss of superstar captain Antoine Dupont to a long-term knee injury.

23:06 , Matt VerriFrance have won the 2025 Six Nations title after a 35-16 victory over Scotland in the final match on an exciting Super Saturday.
Defeat for Les Blues would have handed the championship to England and they were made to work in Paris by the Scots. At half-time France would have feared the party could have been spoiled, as they held a narrow 16-13 lead only after a TMO review had chalked off a Tom Jordan try right before the break.

Reaction from Gregor Townsend
22:38 , Matt Verri"We asked the players to deliver a performance of effort and physicality and they did that," Townsend says. "Our forwards played outstanding rugby at times, really fronted up.
"We didn't get the breaks, the bad luck before half-time [with a disallowed try] and then a mistake and they scored just after half-time. We were in that game for a lot of it.
"We were a bum cheek away from converting in the first half when Blair Kinghorn was just in touch and they are a very good defence. You need to have patience and accuracy and that was little bit missing today."
How it finishes...
22:19 , Matt VerriFrance, England and Ireland all won four of their five matches.
Les Blues win the title thanks to those five bonus points, although they would have got it done on points difference had it finished level anyway.
Strong championship for England, while Ireland were in control of the title until that heavy defeat to France in Dublin.
It’s a second consecutive wooden spoon for Wales, who are on a 17-Test losing run.

Crowning moment!

He lifts the trophy with Gregory Alldritt, to a huge roar from the Stade de France crowd.

22:01 , Matt VerriAntoine Dupont among those watching on from the sidelines.
Very difficult to argue against France being the best team in the Six Nations this year, they have been worthy winners.
That narrow defeat at Twickenham denied them the Grand Slam.

FT: France 35-16 Scotland
21:54 , Matt VerriDriving maul comes to nothing, France go through the phases.
But they suddenly get bored of that and Ntamack decides to boot it out of play!
That will be that... France are the Six Nations champions!

France 35-16 Scotland
21:52 , Matt Verri79 mins: Penalty advantage, Ramos’ dinked kick in behind doesn’t come off.
It’s kicked to the corner. A driving maul to finish the Six Nations...
France 35-16 Scotland
21:51 , Matt Verri78 mins: Referee is waiting to look at something on the big screen.
Did Sutherland tip Cros dangerously? No foul play is the verdict from the officials, they think Sutherland was just trying to stand up.
Just a scrum for France, for an earlier knock-on.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:48 , Matt Verri77 mins: Ritchie jumps in the air with Penaud, penalty for the French as the winger goes down very awkwardly.
They’re back in the Scottish 22, looking to finish this match with a flourish.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:45 , Matt Verri74 mins: Shaun Edwards will have frustrated with how France let Ireland get on top late in the match last weekend, even when the result was wrapped up.
No such problems here. Les Blues working so hard, right up to the final whistle.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:43 , Matt Verri72 mins: Scotland getting nothing from the French defence.
Les Blues win the penalty and Ntamack can get them up the pitch. Some very, very tired bodies out there.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:41 , Matt Verri71 mins: But it’s back for a Scottish penalty, a no-arms tackle in there. Referee says the next penalty will be a yellow card.
Scotland want to get on with it, French defence being made to work so hard. Up to the 5m line again.
Ritchie... a metre short. In fact it’s been held up. France hold on again.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:39 , Matt Verri69 mins: Van der Merwe with a great run through the middle of the pitch, and he finds Graham on his outside. Winger is hauled down inside the 22.
Scotland going through the phases, Russell goes for the big pass out wide... straight out of play.
There was no-one there even if it was in play, not sure what he saw.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:36 , Matt Verri67 mins: Scotland continue to push, as it’s worked wide to Van der Merwe.
He’s rapidly running out of space, and a combination of Penaud and Ramos sends him tumbling into touch.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:35 , Matt Verri66 mins: TMO having a look at a tackle from Bielle-Biarrey, was it above the horizontal?
Lifted the legs pretty high on Russell. Penalty for Scotland.
France 35-16 Scotland
21:32 , Matt Verri64 mins: For once, Ramos can’t add the extra two points.
That’s done nothing to dampen the mood in Paris. Home fans know their side are on the verge of winning the title.
Have Scotland got one final burst in them?
TRY! France 35-16 Scotland | Yoram Moefana 62'
21:30 , Matt VerriStart the party!
France have come alive. Bielle-Biarrey with a brilliant dart into space, and finds the offload to Fickou.
He has his centre partner on the outside, and Moefana just bulldozes his way over the line. Too powerful.
France 30-16 Scotland
21:27 , Matt Verri59 mins: Does feel like the pressure on France has been lifted now. Much more pace to their play.
Home fans are in fine voice again. Lucu’s grubber kick to touch pins Scotland back, deep in their own 22.
TRY! France 28-16 Scotland | Thomas Ramos 57'
21:25 , Matt VerriBiiig call. Ntamack knocks it into the corner, France opt against taking the points and moving ten points in front. They want more.
5m lineout. The maul brings another penalty advantage... don’t need it!
So much space out wide and Ramos can cruise over for an easy try.
France 23-16 Scotland
21:23 , Matt Verri55 mins: French penalty, Ntamack does safely find touch.
Here comes the maul, edging into the Scottish 22 as the crowd roar it on. And on and on it marches, Scotland eventually get it down legally.
France seven metres out though. Make that five, as the forwards get to work.
Ramos has a lunge at a gap, dragged into touch. Back for a penalty advantage.
France 23-16 Scotland
21:21 , Matt Verri53 mins: France claim the restart, straight back on the front foot.
But Ritchie does brilliantly to get over the ball and win the penalty for his side... only for Russell to not find touch with the kick. That’s so poor.
Penaud dinks a kick over the top, Van der Merwe scrambles back and then does brilliant to wriggle his way out of trouble, fending off the tackle as he runs from behind his own line.
Scotland clear the danger.
PENALTY! France 23-16 Scotland | Finn Russell 51'
21:19 , Matt VerriRussell points to the posts.
Safely over, Scotland are back to within a score of the French.
France 23-13 Scotland
21:17 , Matt Verri50 mins: Meafou, Jelonch and Jegou also on for France.
Another scrum coming up, again Scotland are up to the task.
And they fling it wide, Graham bursting into the 22. Just electric when those backs get the ball.
Penalty advantage, as Schoeman bounces off the tackle. Seven metres out.
It’s spilled forward, back for the penalty.
France 23-13 Scotland
21:14 , Matt Verri47 mins: Here come the French Bomb Squad.
New front row is on, and immediately into a scrum. Scotland pack going to come under real pressure.
They get the ball out as quickly as physically possible. Wise.
France 23-13 Scotland
21:12 , Matt Verri45 mins: We know that Scotland will just keep coming, so this should be a really entertaining 35 minutes.
Bielle-Biarrey, by the way, now has eight tries in this championship. Ridiculous.
TRY! France 23-13 Scotland | Louis Bielle-Biarrey 43'
21:09 , Matt VerriBut there he is again!
Russell with the reverse pass, was that slapped forward?
It breaks loose, Ntamack onto it and he has Bielle-Biarrey up with him to charge away for the simplest of finishes.
France 16-13 Scotland
21:08 , Matt Verri42 mins: Scotland are playing with brilliant pace.
Quick ball, and the likes of Graham and Kinghorn are then absolutely flying at the French defence. Relentless stuff.
Russell now rushes over to take the lineout - he wants the chaos!
Back underway!
21:06 , Matt VerriUp and running in the second-half.
40 minutes to decide the Six Nations title race.
HT: France 16-13 Scotland
21:03 , Matt VerriScotland will feel they haven’t had the rub of the green with the TMO calls.
Mauvaka could easily have been shown a red card, for what was effectively a headbutt on White.
Especially considering it was off the ball - no defence at all.
And that Kinghorn call was very tight, as it was deemed he was in touch to rule out the Jordan try.
HT: France 16-13 Scotland
20:54 , Matt VerriThis is not particularly going to plan for France.
Decent start to the match, but it’s all been a bit nervy since then. Ill-discipline hasn’t helped.
Here’s that Graham try that really got Scotland back in it.

NO TRY!
20:51 , Matt VerriThat is a devastating body blow for Scotland!
TMO decides they were in touch in the build-up to the try, so it’s chalked off.
And that’s the half-time whistle.
France lead 16-13.
TRY! France 16-18 Scotland | Tom Jordan 40'
20:49 , Matt Verri40 mins: Stunning run from Kinghorn, from deep in his own half to well inside the 22! He saw a gap and burst through it, before stumbling to the ground.
Scotland with the momentum... SCOTLAND WITH THE TRY!
Jordan bursts through and over the line!
WOW.
PENALTY! France 16-13 Scotland | Thomas Ramos 39'
20:47 , Matt VerriAnother simple kick for Ramos, who again takes his time looking at the shot clock.
France edge back in front.
France 13-13 Scotland
20:46 , Matt Verri38 mins: There will be some very interested England players right now in Cardiff. This title race is not done.
Brown penalised at the breakdown, though. Penalty for France just outside the 22.
Ramos pretends to consider his options before pointing to the posts.
PENALTY! France 13-13 Scotland | Finn Russell 36'
20:44 , Matt VerriRight in front of the posts and Russell knocks it through.
Level match... and Les Blues are down to 14!
France 13-10 Scotland
20:4436 mins: There were four advantages in that one passage of play - referee loses patience.
Gros the third player tonight to be shown a yellow card, France back down to 14 men again.
Scotland with a kick to level this match up.
France 13-10 Scotland
20:43 , Matt Verri35 mins: Well into double figures for phases, and Scotland have a penalty advantage for offside.
High tackle from Gros, that’s another advantage.
And the referee decides to halt play for one of those penalties. TMO having a quick look at the high tackle too.
France 13-10 Scotland
20:42 , Matt Verri34 mins: Scotland scrum, decent platform to attack from.
Russell can’t gather the pass but it’s backwards, and Kinghorn then capitalises on the loose ball to dance to within five metres of the line.
Over to the forwards, to edge their way closer and closer. Schoeman the latest to have a go.
France 13-10 Scotland
20:39 , Matt Verri32 mins: Mauvaka is back on, so France are up to 15 again.
Penaud also returns, having made way for Marchand for those ten minutes.
Fickou is very nearly away for an intercept try, but he just spills it forward. That was nearly a big, big moment.
TRY! France 13-10 Scotland | Darcy Graham 29'
20:36 , Matt VerriScotland back in the French 22, after a powerful run from Jones out wide.
Worked back inside... and Graham finds a brilliant line straight through the middle!
Russell with the pass inside, Graham spots a gap and darts through it for a lovely try.
Game. On.
France 13-3 Scotland
20:34 , Matt Verri27 mins: Still waiting for a verdict on that Mauvaka yellow. He’ll be lucky to avoid a red - it was a deliberate act on the ground, head contact.
Here we go, actually...
Decision from the bunker is it will remain a yellow card. Deemed that the degree of danger is not high.
Mauvaka is incredibly fortunate.
PENALTY! France 13-3 Scotland | Thomas Ramos 25'
20:32 , Matt VerriScotland penalty for offside in their own 22, France will take the points.
About as easy a kick as Ramos will ever have.
He takes every possible second, watching the shot clock tick down, before eventually smashing it through the posts.
France 10-3 Scotland
20:29 , Matt Verri23 mins: Sensational effort from White.
Grubber kick in behind the Scottish defence looks to set Lucu away and he’s favourite to get there, but White dives at it and just about gets the first touch.
French scrum, five metres out.
PENALTY! France 10-3 Scotland | Finn Russell 21'
20:27 , Matt VerriRussell with a simple penalty to get Scotland on the board.
Les Blues have gifted the visitors a way back into this match.
France 10-0 Scotland
20:27 , Matt Verri21 mins: And Mauvaka is in trouble!
Yellow card for the Frenchman, and it will be reviewed for a possible upgrade. Head on head contact.
So stupid from Mauvaka. Penalty for Scotland, five metres out.
France 10-0 Scotland
20:25 , Matt Verri21 mins: Going to have a TMO review for that clash.
Ramos started it with a needless shove, and Mauvaka then had a lunge at White on the ground.
He could be in some trouble, the hooker.
France 10-0 Scotland
20:24 , Matt Verri20 mins: Scotland with the driving maul from the lineout, problem is there’s is on halfway. Long way to home from there.
Great kick chase from Graham then leads to a Scottish penalty, just inside the 22. Good position.
But it’s taken quickly... and France win a penalty themselves!
Some Scottish players hugely frustrated with that, bit of pushing and shoving ensues.
TRY! France 10-0 Scotland | Yoram Moefana 18'
20:21 , Matt VerriScotland won’t be too unhappy with the scrum reset. Ticking away the seconds when they are down to 14.
Clearance kick doesn’t find touch, here come France again. Knock-on advantage for them.
Brilliant from Fickou, lovely footwork and he has Moefana running a great line on his inside.
Stretches out an arm and touches it down! Easy conversion for Ramos.
France 3-0 Scotland
20:18 , Matt Verri14 mins: Huge defence!
It goes down again, referee says it was legal this time.
And Scotland get the scrum, that’s a huge let-off. Did very well to avoid conceding a try after five minutes or so of pressure.
France 3-0 Scotland
20:16 , Matt Verri13 mins: Another maul, another penalty advantage.
Van der Merwe intercepts the pass and would have been away for the try, but it’s back for the penalty.
Scotland have no answer to this driving maul from France. There’s another one coming up...
France 3-0 Scotland
20:15 , Matt Verri12 mins: Huge drive, from just outside the 22 to within five metres. Penalty advantage, too.
And not just a penalty - a yellow card!
Ritchie brought the drive down and he’ll spend ten minutes on the sidelines.
France 3-0 Scotland
20:14 , Matt Verri11 mins: Graham charges up in defence, Bielle-Biarrey slips away from him. Just so quick.
Ritchie then penalised at the breakdown, penalty for France.
Ntamack’s kick to touch gets France up to the Scotland 22.
France 3-0 Scotland
20:12 , Matt Verri9 mins: Scotland into the French 22, they’re having a good spell here.
Russell‘s pass doesn’t come off, Bielle-Biarrey pounces on the loose ball and France have the entire pitch to run into.
Scotland do well to scramble it back - they can be grateful it was Ntamack on the charge rather than Bielle-Biarrey.
Ntamack went by himself, rather than playing in Lucu on his outside.
France 3-0 Scotland
20:08 , Matt Verri6 mins: First bit of possession for Scotland. Lovely crossfield kick from Russell, but Van der Merwe slips as he skips inside.
Bit ragged from Scotland, and the clearance is then charged down.
Scotland keep the ball, but Atonio turns it over and here come France again.
Crossfield to Penaud, Moefana with the grubber in behind but Kinghorn is there on the cover.
PENALTY! France 3-0 Scotland | Thomas Ramos 4'
20:06 , Matt VerriShould be a simple enough kick for Ramos, fairly central and just outside the 22.
And he sends it sailing through the posts, never going to be missing from there.
France 0-0 Scotland
20:05 , Matt Verri3 mins: Drive from the lineout for France, marching towards the Scotland 22.
Penalty advantage and the referee quickly goes back for that. France will go for the points.
France 0-0 Scotland
20:03 , Matt Verri2 mins: All France early on, going through the phases.
Eventually forced out of play as they run out of room out wide, but it’s a confident start from Les Blues.
KICK-OFF!
20:02 , Matt VerriUnderway in Paris!
Just the sound of bagpipes to accompany the Scottish national anthem.
Judging by how quiet those couple of minutes were, it would be fair to say those Scottish fans who have made the trip to Paris are ever so slightly outnumbered.
No such noise problems for La Marseillaise.
Here we go...
19:55 , Matt VerriGoing all out with the light show ahead of kick-off.
This place is going to be an absolute cauldron for Scotland tonight.
Teams are out, pitch almost entirely in darkness. Serious atmosphere!
Not long now!
19:52 , Matt VerriTeams will be out on the Stade de France pitch in just a couple of minutes.
French teams of old have blown hot and cold, and you probably wouldn’t have ruled out an implosion under this sort of pressure.
But this feels a very different group, even without Antoine Dupont.
Have to think they get the job done in front of their home fans.
Pre-match thoughts from both camps...
19:45 , Matt VerriFair to say French defence coach Shaun Edwards is taken nothing for granted tonight.
No danger of France not being right up for this from the first whistle.

England's trophy hopes...
19:39 , Matt VerriAs we all know by now, England will be Six Nations champions if France fail to beat Scotland tonight.
Should that happen, England will actually return to the Principality Stadium, where they would be presented with the trophy on the pitch at around 10pm.
Steve Borthwick’s side have at least given themselves hope, after that sensational 68-14 win over Wales.

French Bomb Squad!
19:32 , Matt VerriGregor Townsend asked ahead of kick-off about that French bench split, with the hosts having seven forwards to call upon.
“It’s a mental challenge as well as a physical one,” Townsend says.
“Seven fresh forwards... but they’ve got to get up to the speed we’re playing.”
Could have been a Grand Slam...
19:23 , Matt VerriFrance were a couple of minutes away from the title being wrapped up by now and this being a Grand Slam opportunity.
A 26-25 defeat at Twickenham has been the only blip in their Six Nations campaign.
Elliot Daly with the winning try in the 79th minute.
Townsend: This is the toughest test
19:15 , Matt VerriScotland head coach Gregor Townsend has had no interest in playing down the size of the challenge facing his side tonight.
He’s made it clear this will be an incredibly difficult night for Scotland.
“It is probably the biggest challenge right now in world rugby,” Townsend said.
“I think when you put all the factors together, playing this French team at home is always a huge challenge. The way they’re playing, even in their defeat (to England) they scored a lot of points and could have scored more at Twickenham.
“They’re physical, they’ll bring a fresh pack on at some stage in the second half and they’re going for the title. I think it would be a really exciting time if you’re a French rugby supporter right now.”

France vs Scotland H2H record
19:04 , Matt VerriScotland split a pair of 2023 World Cup warm-up Tests with France, while they came so close to beating them at Murrayfield in last year’s Six Nations only to be denied by a contentious last-gasp TMO call that ruled out what would have been the winning try.
After a losing run against them lasting for a decade, Scotland won matches against France in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023.
However, they have won only once on French soil since 1999, an unforgettable 27-23 triumph with 14 men secured by Duhan van der Merwe’s late try in Paris four years ago that ruined French hopes of pipping Wales to the title on the final day.
France wins: 60
Scotland wins: 40
Draws: 3

France know what they have to do!
18:44 , Matt VerriEngland have just put ten tries past Wales, in an incredible 68-14 win in Cardiff.
That’s taken them to the top of the standings for now, leading the way on 20 points.
France have 16 heading into tonight’s clash, so any sort of victory would move them 20 points as well.
With France already having a better points difference, it means Les Blues don’t need to worry about a bonus point.
Win and they are Six Nations champions.
Earlier today...
18:36 , Matt VerriDan Sheehan scored a hat-trick as Ireland overcame a sloppy start to keep alive their hopes of retaining the Guinness Six Nations title with a unconvincing 22-17 bonus-point success over Italy.
Seven days on from having their Grand Slam dream crushed by a 42-27 Dublin drubbing at the hands of France, Simon Easterby's side scraped to victory in Rome to move top of the championship table ahead of Saturday's other matches.
Hugo Keenan's score cancelled out an early opener from Azzurri wing Monty Ioane before hooker Sheehan's treble turned the contest in the visitors' favour.
However, fly-half Jack Crowley, who started ahead of Sam Prendergast, squandered three of his four conversion attempts to leave Italy with hope of masterminding a shock.
Stephen Varney's try, supplemented by seven points from Tommaso Allan, increased the tension but the hosts' chances were harmed by indiscipline.
Michele Lamaro spent time in the sin bin, while Ross Vintcent was shown a 20-minute red card and Giacomo Nicotera received a late yellow before Ireland hung on.

Stage is set!

Standard Sport prediction
18:18 , Matt VerriIt is so immensely difficult after that rout in Rome and demolition in Dublin to see Les Bleus slipping up again here on home soil with the title within their grasp - even while missing by far the world’s best player in the magical Dupont.
That infuriating narrow loss at Twickenham appears to have flicked a switch in the French mindset and to do what they did in that monstrous second half at the Aviva while without their captain and talisman was simply awe-inspiring.
Even without their own influential skipper in Sione Tuipulotu this Scotland backline is an absolute joy to watch at times and they are more than capable of making this game interesting, at least early on, but they are unlikely to have sustained answers for the non-stop, off-the-scale physicality of the French machine.
Few would bet against France scoring the four tries that would see them tally the most of any team in a single Six Nations campaign in history.
France to win, by 17 points.
France vs Scotland lineups
18:06 , Matt VerriFrance XV: Ramos; Penaud, Fickou, Moefana, Bielle-Biarrey; Ntamack, Lucu; Gros, Mauvaka, Atonio; Flament, Guillard; Cros, Boudehent, Alldritt (c)
Replacements: Marchand, Baille, Aldegheri, Auradou, Meafou, Jegou, Jelonch, Le Garrec
Scotland XV: Kinghorn; Graham, Jones, Jordan, Van der Merwe; Russell (co-c), White; Schoeman, Cherry, Z Fagerson; Brown, Gilchrist; Ritchie, Darge (co-c), M Fagerson
Replacements: Ashman, Sutherland, Hurd, J Gray, Sykes, Muncaster, Dobie, McDowall
Scotland team news
17:58 , Matt VerriScotland also show two changes to the side that held off Wales, with versatile Glasgow forward Gregor Brown making his first Test start at lock in place of Jonny Gray, who drops to the bench.
There is no Jack Dempsey at all due to a hamstring injury as Matt Fagerson comes in at number 8, while Edinburgh forward pair Marshall Sykes and Ben Muncaster and Glasgow scrum-half Jamie Dobie are all drafted onto the bench as George Horne and Kyle Rowe drop out, along with Dempsey.
It is the first Six Nations involvement for both Sykes and Muncaster, who only have one cap each for Scotland to date.

France team news
17:49 , Matt VerriAntoine Dupont is expected to miss six to nine months in a hammer blow for France, club side Toulouse and the sport of rugby in general, but understudy Maxime Lucu was excellent off the bench in Dublin and will deputise from the start now at scrum-half as number 8 Gregory Alldritt takes over the captaincy.
That is one of two changes from Galthie to the French team that started against Ireland, with vastly experienced centre Gael Fickou also returning in place of Pierre-Louis Barassi, who suffered concussion last weekend.
Otherwise France are unchanged, with Nolann Le Garrec providing cover for Lucu as the only back on a bench that shows another Springbok-esque 7-1 split.
It’s a risky strategy that some claim is having a profound effect on the game, but it paid off handsomely in Dublin with no let up in the fearsome physicality.
