France Urges Halt To Israeli Operations In Rafah

Israel supporters protest about the conflict between Israel and Hamas, in Bogota

France has urged Israel to halt its military operations in Rafah, ahead of an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. The French foreign ministry issued a statement on Tuesday emphasizing the need for the operations to cease, in line with the demands of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The ministry stressed the importance of a new resolution, stating that it is now 'more necessary than ever.' The call for a halt to the operations comes amidst escalating international pressure on Israel to end its assault in Rafah.

In addition to calling for an immediate cessation of Israeli operations, France also appealed for the United Nations to address the urgent needs of the population in Rafah. The statement emphasized the importance of allowing Palestinians to govern the territory, which is seen as a crucial component of their future state.

Last week, the ICJ issued a ruling ordering Israel to stop its military operation in Rafah. The decision has further intensified the global scrutiny on Israel's actions in the region.
