The UK Foreign Office has issued a warning for people travelling to France.
Tensions within the French government have spilled onto the streets with protests and strikes in various sectors. It comes after President Emmanuel Macron used special constitutional powers to force through an unpopular bill raising the retirement age from 62 to 64.
Last week, there were two nights of thousands-strong protests across Paris. Police dispersed crowds with tear gas and water cannons and there were hundreds of arrests.

Protests are due to continue across France in the coming weeks. The UK Foreign Office said: "On March 16, largescale demonstrations started in central Paris and elsewhere in France and police presence increased. Protests could turn violent and continue. This could lead to disruptions to road travel.
"Several unions have called for rolling cross-sector strike action from Tuesday, March 7, with coordinated cross-sector action planned on Thursday, March 23. Industrial action may start the evening before the strike day and run for several days.
"Localised or sector-specific strikes could also occur outside these dates. Industrialised action may lead to disruption to services."
