The Foreign Office has updated its advice for people travelling to France from the UK.
On Wednesday, January 18, the government department urged all passengers to check with their operators before travelling. It comes as unions across France have called for strike action.
Most trains will be cancelled in France on Thursday (January 19), while a number of flights will also be affected, and Paris' subway will be "heavily disrupted", Reuters reports.

Demonstrations are also expected in various parts of the country. The latest advice on Gov.uk reads: "Several unions have called for cross-sector strike action and demonstrations on Thursday, January 19.
"This may lead to disruption to services. Please check the latest advice with operators before travelling, avoid demonstrations and follow the advice of local authorities."
Reuters said the French government has said it will stand its ground and called on workers not to paralyse the country.
January 19 is being referred to as "Black Thursday" in France by a growing number out news outlets. The Local reports unions say it will be the "first day of mobilisation" in their battle against Emmanuel Macon's plans to reform the French pension system.
