Following the recent elections in France, an activist for the right-wing party National Rally (RN) expressed mixed feelings about the outcome. The RN, which was initially expected to lead the elections, fell behind two other parties, leading to a sense of both satisfaction and disappointment among its supporters.
Aymeric Mahiet, a member of the RN, described the results as 'satisfying and a bit disappointing.' He highlighted the historic achievement of doubling the party's MPs in the assembly but also expressed a desire for better results.
Another activist, identified only as Alban, voiced disappointment over what they perceived as a lack of respect for the democratic process. Alban criticized what they referred to as 'RN-bashing' in the French media, particularly singling out outlets like Le Monde and Franceinfo for taking openly anti-RN positions.
Alban went on to suggest that the media bias against RN amounted to an anti-democratic process and even proposed banning the party altogether. This sentiment was echoed by Mahiet, who reiterated claims made by RN leader Jordan Bardella that the election had been 'stolen' by President Emmanuel Macron and left-wing parties allegedly colluding to secure victory.
The accusations of electoral manipulation and media bias have added a layer of controversy to the election results, with RN supporters expressing a mix of pride in their party's achievements and frustration over perceived obstacles in the political landscape.
