Despite the ongoing cost of living crisis, with purse strings being tightened everywhere, plenty of people are still booking foreign holidays, with the most popular destinations being revealed.
France and Italy may not come as much of a surprise to readers, but Morocco might, although it has always had plenty of appeal to Brits over the years, but in 2023, it seems it has renewed vigour in the holiday market, according to research carried out by loveholidays. These destinations have each seen significant rises in bookings for this year when compared with pre-pandemic levels, with holidays to Egypt and Portugal also growing in popularity.
France has witnessed the greatest increase in bookings, up 119 per cent in January 2023 versus January 2020, while Morocco and Italy follow closely behind, with increases of 91 per cent and 89 per cent respectively.
Egypt and Portugal, with their menus of sun, sea and sand, a veritable winner with tourists, complete the top five on 87 per cent and 71 per cent respectively.
